51st Bakery & Cafe is located on 51st avenue between Vernon Boulevard and 5th Street, two blocks from the East River Waterfront.

Chef Faye Hess lives in the neighborhood. As well as running the cafe she teaches cooking in the Loire Valley in France and in Tuscany and Umbria, the heart of Italy.

51st Bakery & Cafe sources the best ingredients for breakfast, lunch and Supper Club. Their cured meats and cheeses are from Murrays Cheese, bread and pastries from Balthazar, and their coffee roasters are Devocion Coffee from nearby Williamsburg, Brooklyn as well as a good selection of wines from local distributors.

The chocolate chip cookie may be the best in New York City.
